So long and thanks for all the fish

Hey everyone. Make sure you are sitting and play some sad violin music from Youtube. Ready? Ok… As of January 9th 2014, the Shadowflame FC will put all FFXIV FC related activities on hold. However, we will continue to exist as a multigaming community as we already did during the transition between 1.0 and 2.0. You may ask yourself why. Kite quit the game because it is not developing into a direction he was expecting and we’ll have to respect that. Since also Ragna followed him, and Arkune isn’t very motivated at all, the core is missing a critical portion of people and without this core, I’m (Fidi) not calling it Shadowflame anymore. I’m taking this as an opportunity to quit leading linkshells and free companies after 9 years and change to being just a member for a while. I will post about the remaining member’s future plans at a later time since we still have to sort some stuff out.
However, this doesnt mean we all have to lose contact now. As you might know, the core is a bunch of people who are friends in the real life aswell and therefor, we will continue playing games together and also create Shadowflame guilds there, if the game offers the technical possibility, of course. The best way to stalk us is to check out the Shadowflame Steam Group, linked on the header of this page. You can also add us via Skype if you haven’t done already. You can also continue using our Forums to stay in contact. Everything will stay online for now, even the TS3 server. Also, the Shadowflame Linkshell will stay active. As for the FC, we will not delete it since we cannot tell what the future holds. If Kite as the current FC-master returns to the game but wants to join another FC, we will create a twink and make it the master, just to store the precious original FC and to always have a way back. 😉
As I wrote above, we only put our activities on hold. There is a good chance we will return some time in the future, as Shadowflame already did several times. But from today’s viewpoint, its too unclear to say if and when it will happen.
I myself will continue playing the game in a casual way for the next weeks and I will take my time to make a decision how I will move on. If you like to join me, just throw me a message.
I wanna thank all past and present Shadowflame members for an irreplacable great time, a lot of fun and all the ups and downs we went through. Really appreciated. I will continue writing something here in the near future. But for now, I just need a beer.
So long and thanks for all the fish~

So long and thanks for all the fish~

Guten Rutsch!
Where is this Elevator even leading to?
Been a while now, but i think the time is ripe for some frontpage News ~
I think most of you already know it, but for those that don’t, Shadowflame isn’t what you might call an „Endgame“ group anymore.Since any and all Endgame content is currently maxed at 8 Players and new content with 2.1 still only being 8 man Content with the rest of the group being put together by the Duty Finder i decided that it’s time to build a static group to enjoy Content with without the need to always explain strategies to new Members.
When i started this game i was expecting to see content that actually would’ve allowed me to enjoy it with all of my friends at the same time. But it turned out that we only got very restrictive content that at the same time locks you out once you’ve completed it, making you unable to help others or simply enjoy it again untill it’s resetted.
There are many Free Companies out there that start building multiple groups within their FC, but i don’t see the reason why i should do that.in the end i’ll be leading a whole FC but only play within my own static group while others do the same.i rather have a strong group of people that i know and play with daily.i don’t want to think of Members as „backup“ or „reserve“ players that can jump in just because i miss one.
So, untill SE finally starts to actually offer me content that requires more than 8 players i won’t bother leading more than 8 players 🙂
On a different note~
We’ve built a static to do The Binding Coil of Bahamut weekly and so far we’ve been very succesful.
After having cleared Turn 1,2 & 3 within a week we’ve already started working towards Turn 4! sadly we lost one of our static Members (Mosark Yonkou) to Real Life and now require a new SCH to fill his place. But i’m sure we’ll get one soon, in the meantime we’ll try to fill the last spot with randoms, tho, a static member would be way better ^_^
There also is a new Video of us doing Coil Turn 3 (yea we missed recording Turn 2 and we even did a first try win!!!! >_<) and a few new Pictures, enjoy~
Update :
in addition to last weeks Turn 3 Video Fidi recorded this weeks Turn 2 so i could update the News.
Free Company : Heartbreaker
1 Month has passed, time for another news update!
After a good month of doing Titan after Titan, we’ve finally decided to switch our Raid focus over to the Binding Coil of Bahamut. We’re not completely new to BCoB, yet we’ve never really put any focus on it, seeing how 2.1 won’t bring much new Content besides the Crystal Tower and also there is the the weekly lockout of BCoB.
Many might argue the usefulness of this Dungeon considering the fact that currently you might aswell just grab your AFv2 equipment, upgrade your Relic to +1 and call it a day, but is still an interesting dungeon that has yet to be beaten by a group of Players that wasn’t using a glitch.
It also is a continuation of the main story, so there is that reason to actually beat it.
Currently the Binding Coil of Bahamut is built of 5 Floors, or also called „Turns“.
Floor 1,2 & 5 have boss fights, while 3 & 4 only have regular monsters in them, once you beat a floor you and your groups IDs will update and allow you to enter the next Floor, but forbid you from entering a lower Floor untill the weekly reset, which happens every Monday @ 17:00 (CEST)
So far we’ve managed to advance to Floor 2.That’s not so bad considering that we just started doing BCoB, but still, BCoB is a very hard dungeon with alot of frustraiting deaths heh.
though, personally i’m still looking forward to the Crystal Tower alot more than BCoB even if it’s supposed to be easier Content next to BCoB.
I just favor Content that allows bigger groups, allowing me to invite everyone in the Free Company to have fun at once, instead of just going with 8 Players.I wish FFXIV had more unrestrictive content like FFXI had, where i could choose the size of my group.Oh well, maybe we’ll get more Open World content at some point 🙂
Anyways, Binding Coil of Bahamut is in and Titan is out (that doesn’t mean we won’t do him if a Member needs him though XD)
